What ever happened to this map?

10-26-2011, 01:47 AM
I actually can't even recall the name of that map.

I don't know that we've ever played it for PUG if it's the one I'm thinking of.

10-26-2011, 05:14 PM
cp_indulge. I'll put it on the server, I don't think we've played it since final release.

Double post!

I think it'd be neat to do a less-serious round with people playing the competitive classes they don't normally play. Different from Silly Business in that we'd actually be looking to learn/improve/stretch class boundaries.

11-22-2011, 06:55 PM
I really like this idea, but I don't think we could balance that.

11-22-2011, 07:40 PM
There was this tournament with special rules, nothing but off-classes. No demo, soldiers, and scouts. 1 heavy, 1 medic, 2 pyro/engie/spy/sniper. Can we try it one night?

11-23-2011, 02:32 AM
This is PuG night not Silly Business or Worst in Class.

Both captains should have input while teams are being picked.

b鼬: then both captains should be able to put input in during it
b鼬: because as people are picked you can formulate stuff based onw ho is coming next etc
[CA] Simcaster: what do you mean by that?
b鼬: for example
b鼬: they get a good sniper picked
b鼬: they can aid the picks to work with that
b鼬: like if we had freak run sniper
b鼬: we would have had not have had enough damage
b鼬: we didnt have enough people to play 2 soldier, a heavy and a demo
b鼬: with a sniper and medic
b鼬: the players were not awful but the rolls they canf ill when put together kinda were
[CA] Simcaster: there's no way to fomulate the teams to both have those classes every time
[CA] Simcaster: if ninja hadn't sniped this game, it would have been much more even
[CA] Simcaster: there's just some things that you can't forsee
[CA] Simcaster: captains picking teams wont change that
b鼬: exactly, they had two of the best snipers
[CA] Simcaster: and no medic
[CA] Simcaster: there are balances
b鼬: uh, hackiroth and crackrabbit
b鼬: they had the best snipers and a decent medic
[CA] Simcaster: but they lose a valuable combat class
b鼬: we effectively lost two
b鼬: everian cannot play any of them very well
b鼬: and our only sniper choice was also out best heavy or soldier choice
[CA] Simcaster: if there were all these issues, why didn't you speak up?
b鼬: i didnt realize that they had the ridiculous sniping power on one of the best sniper maps until they rolled us with it
[CA] Simcaster: i didn't either
[CA] Simcaster: you can't forsee everything
[CA] Simcaster: and i see no way to fix things like that from happening
b鼬: both captains putting input in, people labeling their classes again
b鼬: they arent pidgeon held into those classes but it gives an idea
[CA] Simcaster: captains still aren't going to spot issues like that
[CA] Simcaster: and there's nothing stopping them from seeing those issues with the current system
b鼬: put both captains in the channel while you pick
b鼬: as you pick, maybe do a quick explanations as to why you picked the person
b鼬: etcetc
[CA] Simcaster: i don't think that's neccesary
[CA] Simcaster: and i don't think that'll help much
b鼬: that way they can think about the choices while you pick and are not put on the spot to decide if they are good or not
b鼬: it isn't like it is very difficult to try
[CA] Simcaster: that also allows me and ned to be less frank about people's skill levels
b鼬: what do you mean?
[CA] Simcaster: we have to take the captain's skill levels into account when picking the teams
[CA] Simcaster: and it's hard to do that when they are in the channel
b鼬: who cares? if somebody is bad at the the game I'm sure they know it
b鼬: if i was there and you said i ams hit at the game
b鼬: wouldn't give a fuck, and i doubt many people would
[CA] Simcaster: how about this
[CA] Simcaster: you should make a post on the forums
[CA] Simcaster: mabye i'm just being an idiot about this
[CA] Simcaster: see if others agree

tl;dr im a babby and im an asshole

The positives are negligible and the negatives greater. No thanks, Ferret. There is little to gain from having the captains in while you pick compared to simply asking about balance afterward and going from there.

Plus, you refute your own argument by wishing this problem could have been foreseen, yet realizing you didn't see it yourself.

12-08-2011, 11:37 PM
What are the negatives exactly? None of the people who volunteer would be loud and obnoxious about it, and their input is just there for input.

When Simcaster/NeD pick the teams, they have no idea what the captains have in mind for during the event, and while the captains having a heavy influence can make the teams imbalanced it just makes more sense. Saying "Hey, I'll probably have X on Sniper, giving me Y will probably gimp me a lot because I won't able to fill Z roll."

Another map suggestion, but this one is pretty insane.

I would love to see some cool strats on this map.

Pretty cool 5cp map made by the guy who made gullywash. I've played a lot of it on a pub server but I'd like to try it with 12 or 14 people.

What is this map? We should do it.

10-07-2012, 03:26 AM
I have no clue.

10-07-2012, 05:42 AM
I've played it on one of the reddit servers a few times, it was pretty ok. Don't remember the name though.

Alright, cp_process_b4 (http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=16711) has been uploaded to the events server and fastdl.

I'd love to try this.

Thanks for putting it up.
