CouchCast 18 - Legally able to consent!

It's business as usual this week at the CouchCast.  The guys, Tino, Nick, Type, Trev and Amanda... HOLD THE PHONE! Amanda?  This week the guys are joined by community member Nectar.  They look back at the past two weeks at what they've been playing, and what's coming up in the next couple of weeks too.  The group take a look into Bobby Kotick's latest public address at DICE, Ubisoft's DRM scheme, the next Unreal Engine, and what is being called "The Xbox Effect".

Questions were a little slim this week, but the group have fun with it anyways.  As always a "Would you rather" gets snuck in, and much hilarity ensued.

CouchCast 15 - My Big Fat Greek Raptor

It's the first podcast of the new year!

It's been a busy couple of weeks, a lot has been going on.  Of course we had a new year, bringing in 2010.  Also of interest was the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) which lead into a lot of interesting new gadgets we'd be experiencing in the next couple of years, a wonderful kick-off for the new year.  2009 was a big year in games, will 2010 be as big?  The guys talk about what they are looking forward to this year and what their gaming resolutions are.  As always; Trevor, Nick, Tino and Type answer listener questions and talk about what they've been playing for the past couple of weeks.

Tough Call: Wife Vs. Orc

A Man, his wife... and his orc

What do you do when when your spouse tells you your Orc has to go?  It's a situation most gamers wouldn't want to be in.  But one unlucky chap happened to find himself in that exact position. Looking into moving to another country, Robert Cushnie's wife told him that if he didn't ditch his Orc, that she would move without him.

So, reluctantly Robert put his Orc for adoption. Robert bought his Orc friend from a local store that shutdown, and had been enjoying it's company for over 6 years. Kind of makes you wonder, who came first?

Wife Dee, said that she didn't like the Orc satute.  Being only 5'3", she found that the Orc towered over her, and was quite creepy.

A pair of seniors adopted the statue because, quote "We wanted him because he's so unusual". The statue has already become popular with the seniors' grandkids.

Website Maintenance! - We're Back!

Server Rack

 Hi Guys,

Just wanted to let you all know that come this Sunday, the CouchAthletics.com website will be down.  The last two parts of our migration will be done, moving over the website content and the forums.

This however, will not effect our game servers or the Ventrilo server either.  Those services will still be up and running.  The server team will try our best to keep the downtime to a minimum.

A lot of work has already been done, and we've done our best to make it transparent to you guys.  So far the stats system, admin content and fast download folders have all been changed and updated on the game servers.

Once everything has been wrapped up, and the server team is confident that everything is in proper working order, custom map additions to the game servers will resume.  I know there have been a couple cool request for maps, and hopefully we'll be able to get uploaded and play-tested sooner rather then later.

The migration is done.   Thank you all for your understanding and hanging with us during the change-over.
