Kevin Butler Gets My Vote for E3 Best In Show
|In what was quite possibly the greatest 5 minutes of this year's E3 conference, Sony's hilarious commercial spokesperson, Kevin Butler, certainly made a memorable appearance. His rally to gamers all across the world truly speaks to the hardcore gamer in all of us, even if I enjoy playing consoles that fall victim to his trademark stabs. Click above, fellow gamers, and listen to one of the greatest speeches in the history of gaming.
Gran Turismo 5's Collector's Edition is Huge
|Sony acknowledges that you've been waiting for Gran Turismo 5 for far too long. As a result, the collector's edition is quite a sight. Including a 300 page 'Car Lover's Guide", a keychain, 5 downloadable bonus cars and a 1:43 scale model of a 2009 Nissan GT-R Spec V made by Kyosho. Also, it all comes in that fancy and substantially large box that would look fantastic on my shelf. You can pick this up November 2nd for $99 of your hard earned cash.
Infamous 2 Trailer; It's Not Just Lightning Anymore
|Were you a fan of the first Infamous game? Do you like sequels? Well, if you answered 'yes' to both of those questions, then above is the trailer for you. In fact, even if you haven't even played the first one, Infamous 2 may tickle your curiosity, like it did for me. Only a vague date of '2011' is given as release information, but Cole has been gifted some cool new Sub-Zero style abilities. Check it out.
Gran Turismo 5 Finally Gets a Release Date
|After delays, delays and even more delays, we couldn't even get so much as an official release date for Gran Turismo 5. Racing sim fans have been playing a prologue for years without having the slightest idea when the rest of their game would come out. Well, wonder no more, race fans. Gran Turismo 5 will be hitting store shelves November 2nd of this year, and in 3D to boot. So lace up your racing boots, 'cause you only have a few months left to wait. Hit the jump for the trailer.
Twisted Metal is Back, and More Badass Than Ever
|The Sony keynote ended on an epic note. Twisted Metal is coming to the Playstation 3 with all new game mechanics while still keeping to its roots. The footage we were shown was stunning and brought me back to my PS1 days. Hit the jump for the trailer and more.
*UPDATE: Footage of the new multiplayer mode 'Nuke' is now available. Check it out!
Portal 2 trailer shown off at Sony's E3 media briefing. Steam on PS3?
|Alright, so the biggest announcement at E3 for me was the announcement of Portal 2 being on the Playstation 3. Now, this shouldn't have come to a surprise to anyone who's savvy on the inner workings of a console and how Steam, while primarily a Windows platform, just seamlessly moved into the Mac gaming world. This is going to play a domino effect on Valve's market, and it's already knocked over half the board. Gabe not only comes out during the Sony briefing and announces that Portal 2 will be released for the PS3, but he says it'll be available on the PS3 WITH Steam. This is an incredible announcement, hit the jump for the whole thing.
Playstation Move Priced, Dated
|Sony seems to have fallen in love with the phrase 'one-to-one controls,' thanks to the Playstation Move announcements at today's E3 media briefing. The PS3 answer to the Wii Motion Plus and Kinect, Playstation Move will be released in the US on September 19th with a base price of $49.99. That $50 will get you just the basic Move Controller - you will still need a Playstation Eye to use the service. The Move Navigation controller sells separately for $30, although there is little information so far on just how necessary that will be. Of course, Sony will be releasing several bundles, including a Move Controller, Playstation Eye, and the basic sports game you've come to expect for $100, and the full PS3 Slim + Move bundle will set you back $400.
Sorcery announced, shown off as Move exclusive.
|So there I was, about to fall asleep at my desk watching the Sony media briefing, when a move title sparked up that perked me up quicker than any amount of coffee laced with whatever's in that 5-hour energy drink. I'm talking about Sorcery, the Playstation Move exclusive that gave me a reason to want to add Move to my living room. The demo showed a mage's apprentice wandering around a comically designed inner sanctum to a castle and blasting away goblins with his magic wand. Harry Potter meets Torchlight is what it looked like. Anyway, hit the jump to check out the trailer.
Slam Bolt Scrappers exclusive to PS3
|Slam Bolt Scrappers, a game that comes highly recommended from just about anyone that's played it at PAX East, and is about to play it at E3, has just picked up a publisher and it involves exclusivity! Exclusivity to the PS3 that is, Sony has taken on the reigns of publisher for SBS and is having FireHose Games release it exclusively to the PSN in 2011. Hit the jump for more.
Thief 4 Website Pops Up
|Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the official Thief 4 website has been launched. A twitter post from PlayStation points directly to the new website. Very little is revealed but it's there and there is a discussion forum. I hope they change the title image though. F.3.A.R. is strictly marketing, so I hope Thi4f is also just marketing. Check out their forum if you're a Thief fan or not.
