Blizzard is predictable. Starcraft 2 is delayed.
|
You heard it here...uhh, probably last. Starcraft 2 has been delayed to the "first half of 2010." Is anyone surprised? This is Blizzard, aka "when it's done". The only people that can out-delay them is Valve. News from Kotaku is below.
STEAM weekend sale 50% off all Relic games.
|This weekend you can enjoy the glory that is Company of Heroes, Dawn of War, and yes Dawn of War 2 all for half off. That's right sports fans, those of you who picked up Dawn of War 2 half a year ago can scoff at those picking it up for a fraction of the price that you paid for it. Hopefully, this will boost the amount of people playing it in the community. Now thru this weekend, save 50% off all games from Relic, including the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II plus all the games in the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War franchises. Those who Dawn of War II also receive the "There is Only War" DLC which includes 8 new multiplayer maps, a new map editor, new Observer and Referee features, and much, much more. Honestly, I love everything Relic does.
There is only war beta has interesting stats.
|Did you participate in the "There is Only War" beta test? Over the past month or so if you own Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2 there was an option to participate in the beta test for their upcoming patch. If you've been paying attention to the news the new patch has several new features including the ability to use Relic's map making tool. Revealed on the THQ insider twitter was a link to a community blog article giving some statistics about the beta. Things like players online, battle durations and trends might be of interest to you number crunchers out there. Apparently, ranked 1v1 matches were the most popular, which isn't surprising because I'm sure I was just feeding wins to about anyone I played in that mode.
Greatest Pre-order EVAR!
|When I first saw this I couldn't believe my eyes, so after rubbing them once, and then again, and then to the point of bleeding out of my eyes I realized this is the real shit. If you pre-order Scribblenauts through EBgames you actually get the rooster hat from the game. That's right people, the rooster hat. No longer will people be able to say you just look like a big cock, because once you get this hat, you'll be one. Literally. Honestly, I think this trumps night vision goggles. Take that, Activision! Unfortunately, this has only been confirmed for Aussieland, but CA's undercover ops over at Gamestop are spending countless hours looking into this to confirm that we will in fact, all be cocks, in the U.S. come September.
Digital Distribution, backwards, the Good Old Games way!
| Chris Remo over at Gamasutra sat down with Good Old Games' Managing Director Adam Oldakowski. For those of you out of the loop, Good Old Games is a digital distribution outlet that focuses on old games rather than Valve and Impulse's model of new games. The site is run by CD Projekt, the creators of our favorite boob-o-rama style RPG The Witcher. The interview, like everything on Gamasutra, is a very business and industry oriented questionaire about Oldakowski's views on the industry and his website. The interview is insightful and provides a fresh view to those of us who are sick of hearing how terrible everything is.
Rebellion acquires Vivendi licenses, considers sequels to all IPs
I'm sure you've all heard of Rebellion the indie UK developer boasting such titles as Alien Versus Predator on the Jaguar, and the one that later came out on the PC in 2000. No? Well, it gets interesting so bear with me.
In the Vivendi/Activision "merger" Rebellion ended up making out like a bandit on some of the IPs Activision didn't want including Evil Genius, Empire Earth, Ground Control and Lord of the Realm/Lords of Magic.
This is big stuff, especially considering the business model that's been used quite frequently lately of make a really bad game, then come out with a kickass sequel.
currently, they're developing Rogue Warrior for Bethesda, and a new Aliens versus Predator for Sega.
League of Legends free?!
Looks like LoL has gone the way of micro transactions over an initial price. Kinda took me by surprise. I was expecting to pay full price for the game. Not only that, but the micro transactions don't benefit you as much as you'd expect.
This was brought to my attention on their forums, so check it out.
So very shortly after posting this came some more news. And confusion.
Preorders available. But wait, orders? $29.99?!
Digital Collectors Pack with several benfits.
Do you think the perks are worth the price?
UPDATE: Release date has been set for sometime in Septembre '09
Excuse me, ma'am. Would you like to sign a petition?
A petition has surfaced from fans of Starcraft 2 wanting LAN play. Unlike Left4Dead's nerd rage, this one seems to have momentum going.
6000+ signatures as of right now.
SC2 LAN petition, bring it back!
Bring what back? We don't even have it yet!
Ridiculous.
*UPDATE* No Lan in SC2

Giant Bomb went the extra mile and asked Blizzard about the choice to drop LAN from the release of Starcraft 2. We speculated on this yesterday and it would seem we're mostly right.
StarCraft 2 - No LAN Support? WTF!?!
Seriously... Blizzard has just announced that one of the key features will not be supported in the next version of StarCraft.
