• DotA 2 Overview : Broodmother

Broodmother is a semi-carry, and quite possibly one of the most irritating and self reliant pushers to lane against. Broodmother is such a strong laner, this is primarily what her playstyle revolves around. As she is so survivable in a lane, and is also able to push down towers with an army of Spiderlings, Broodmother typically lives a solitary lifestyle sitting in her lane for much longer than the typical hero constantly threatening the towers of whatever lane she is in. In doing so she presents the enemy with the conundrum of either sending multiple heroes to deal with her on a constant basis, or risk losing multiple towers and potentially a Barracks to her constant pressure.

    Stats & Skills Overview

Broodmother’s Web(s) provide her with constant cover from potential killers, as well as a great boost to her movement speed and hp regeneration. While a squishy hero, this makes her an incredibly difficult target to kill. The goal then is to stay in your lane constantly creating waves of spiders to threaten the enemy tower.

Apart from her extreme survivability in lane, Broodmother is actually a very poor dual laner, providing little contribution in damage or stuns until at least level 7. For this reason she is exclusively run as a solo lane as it’s the environment she excels in the most. Most often Brood is used to solo the off lane as she can do so very safely, but in reality can solo any lane effectively.

Most players pick up a Soul Ring on Broodmother to allow her to spam her Spiderlings much more frequently providing a great deal of lane control and pushing power. In conjunction with the hp regen from her web, it’s almost free mana. At this point she has all she needs to stay in the lane and farm/push like crazy. For boots Power Treads are usually the go to choice as they provide her with additional attack speed which works well with the lifesteal from Insatiable Hunger. Past that there are a few popular item choices. Black King Bar is very popular as it ensures she can continually attack someone and not get chain stunned to death during teamfights. An Orchid is also a popular choice for killing off solo targets who may try to stun her or blink away once she starts attacking them. For late game, typically carry items such as a Butterfly, Deadulus, or Monkey King Bar are sufficient.

Broodmother’s most important ability is by far Spin Web as it allows her to safely lane, but it’s not the ability she will max out first. Spawn Spiderlings is the ability she should invest the full 4 into first as by leveling she gains a lot of lane control by being able to spam it onto any potential enemy who might think about laning there as well, and is also integral to her pushing ability. Brood should start off with at least a couple points in Spin Web, and then move back over to her Spawn Spiderlings. Once Spiderlings is maxed, players can either finish off leveling Spin Web allowing for additional roaming area, or start investing some points into Incapacitating Bite if they would like more hero killing power. Her ultimate as expected should be leveled whenever possible. Insatiable Hunger > 1-2 Spin Web > Spawn Spiderlings > 3-4 Spin Web/Incapacitating Bite > Stats.

Because of how squishy Broodmother is, knowing when to push and when to fall back is a very important skill to possess when playing her. That said her abilities are very straightforward and provided the player is smart about pressuring the lane, are easy to abuse. Spider micro while somewhat challenging, is not necessary for success most of the time. (5/10)

    Broodmother Tip of the Day

Using Broodmother’s Web to destroy trees in your lane can be useful as it removes any cover for the opposing lane support to sit behind, as well as allowing you more vision to see enemies coming from. Investing more points into Web ensures you can have multiple sections of trees removed allowing you easy passage through what is likely the enemy jungle as well as creating a frightening environment for the enemy to traverse.

BKB does too and it also gives much more teamfight presence.

yeah it depends on what you are looking for. split-pushing or team fight survivability. even then.

Look at this comparison. (Gaming benchmarks are near the bottom. They are outdated due to newer drivers, though. The 6990 would be even better because

So, yeah. Getting all the information about not-games out of the way before E3 (where everyone expects everything about games) sounds like a fine idea
