Flashed Fridays : The Unicorns, Rainbows, Stars and Cheetos? Edition

This weeks... Special submissions brought to us by none other than our own special little Tino, the Unicorn whisperer himself.

These games (and I use the term loosely on one of the offerings) show us the range of what flash games can be, from clean, pretty, well designed with perfect audio, to a farce that would have looked bad in NES days.

Piqued your curiosity?  Moistened your... appetite?  Hit the jump for more.Time for the gem of this week, a real jewel, if you will, Robot Unicorn Attack, this game is cleanly made, smooth, simple and surprisingly fun, everything a flash game should be.  Music that makes you feel like your playing something straight out of Legend, (yes, the movie) and sound effects which are both clean and appropriate are the icing on this delicate, yet filling cake.

Then there's the bastard inbred stepchild that nobody wants to talk about and sits alone in the corner at family reunions, The Legend of Cheetocorn.  This game smells worse than the Cheetos powered unicorn farts that riddle this trashy plat-former, and if you think that sounds bad, wait till you hear the audio.

To be fair Cheetocorn appears to have tried to make a coarsely funny plat-former to help it's brand image, but the humor falls flat and relies entirely on one fart joke, just ONE, a bad one, at that.  Considering this is an offering from a company with more money to throw at this game than most flash artists will get in there lifetime, all I can say is, this game is very disappointment, and you will not see screen shots of it in this article.

Back to the darling child of this episode, Robot Unicorns Attack, I have already gone over the sterling production quality so will move now to simpler things, like the control mechanics.  Said mechanics involve only two keys, yet offer a surprising amount of control, when you press the Z key to jump, the top of your arc is determined by press duration, up to a maximum set by the game, and then you can jump again.  The X key allows you to dash, plowing through pretty diamond obstacles that otherwise would obliterate your poor Robot Unicorn.

As a last note on this game, the fact that it is Robot Unicorns makes you feel far less bad about smashing them into walls and obstacles, (which I still try to avoid) because these aren't real unicorns, and thus there shall be many more, as they are doubtless mass-produced in some magical Fae factory.

As you can see, if the posturing of this leaping magnificent beast looks good, and wait till you see the dash, right now!

Such power!  Such athleticism such a neat little rainbow blur and explosion effect!

Sooo maybe I was a LITTLE enthusiastic about this game and a little (microscopic really) hard on Cheetocorn, but the difference in the two was simply ridiculous, either way, thanks to Tino for his submission, and we promise not to read too much into the fact that they are both unicorn themed games.
