Ubisoft's DRM Authenticating Servers are DOWN
We're getting word that Ubisoft's DRM authentication servers, the servers that users must maintain a connection to, in order to play any Ubisoft games, are down.
Over in the Ubisoft forums, many are complaining of 35 minute load times, constant disconnections or no access at all. This is affecting all Ubisoft games that have the new DRM, including Assassin's Creed II which just released on the PC last week in the UK, and comes out March 9th in the US.
Community manager Ubi.Vigil told the Escapist, "I don't have any clear information on what the issue is ... but clearly the extended downtime and lengthy login issues are unacceptable, particularly as I've been told these servers are constantly monitored." He also noted "I'll do what I can to get more information on what the issue is here first thing tomorrow and push for a resolution and assurance this won't happen in the future."
Sorry, Ubisoft, but this is exactly why consumers were crying out against your DRM. What will happen when Assassin's Creed II releases in the US? Other than Ubi.Vigil, there has been no official comment from Ubisoft on the issue.
So, are any of you guys experiencing issues?

Come back on Tuesday, I'll
Come back on Tuesday, I'll have an editorial on all the latest DRM bullhockery.
That's Tuesday the 16th, not

To go along with the release of Assassin's Creed 2 for PC.
AC2 on PC comes out on the
AC2 on PC comes out on the 9th, Grog. At least according to Steam and Gamestop.
Which means that accounting
Which means that accounting for the DRM failing you'll be playing it for the first time around the 16th. So in a way, you're both right.
A thousand people just all
A thousand people just all said "I called it" at the same time.
And this is why i will not be
And this is why i will not be buying any games from Ubisoft while the DRM is still in effect.
So not only was the game
So not only was the game cracked within 24 hours, but the servers paying customers need to use to play the game are down.
Well done UbiSoft. Those pirates sure have learned not to mess with you guys.
