I'm about to break a hundred hours in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and I don't think I've even scratched the surface of this game. With another 100 hours, I may have just half of the world completely explored. Too often I find myself jotting down a “to do list” to keep myself from wandering off on some path that is going to only get me lost on a line of other quests. That may come off as a complaint, but rest assured – losing yourself with the world of Tamriel is a joyous experience that will have many changing their vacation plans to staying at home instead of other activities. Curse you, Bethesda!

Before Elder Scroll offered us beautiful forests, mountains, and streaming rivers, there was a top-down game that held just as much landscaping beauty.. It didn't have detailed creepy hags or monsters, and it especially didn't have dragons that flew out of the sky and lit the landscape on fire, but it was a masterpiece in its own way. What game could have done such a thing? It was called Dragon Warrior, and it was the best RPG game of its time.

The two simpletons are finally back. It's been quite the wait, but Beavis and Butthead finally returned to the air on October 27th on MTV. While I don't watch a whole lot of television these days, Beavis and Butthead was a part of my childhood as much as gaming has been. Hell, my entire middle school years my friend and I went around imitating two morons. When Beavis and Butthead was released for the Super Nintendo, there was only one thing I could say to my best friend: “We're there, dude.”

Sometimes a game that was meant to be scary just doesn't turn out that scary. At other times, some games don't focus primarily on being scary and end up quite terrifying. The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Maniac Mansion are two great examples of games doing something that they may not have been intended to do. While Maniac Mansion is clearly the more popular of the two, it's important to look at another game that was vague in objectives but ended up being quite hilarious rather than creepy. Here are two well-known titles as we say farewell to the Halloween season ends.

A lot of times, younger kids don't understand the goal that a video game lays out. Sometimes they play the game simply because they enjoy the music, visuals, and idea of the game. Cauldron I & II are the perfect examples of a game that features just that. It also fits perfectly as Halloween is less than a week away. We've got witches, ghosts, skeletons, and pumpkins to look at, but what we really need to focus on is what the game was about. Let's take a look. ...

There is something that I've lost as I've gotten older. Bumps in the night and shadows of trees on my wall used to keep me up all night as a little one, and now I barely give it a second thought. These days, there are very few games, such as Amnesia, that actually frighten me when I play them. Back in the day, however, there was quite a list of spooky, horror-related games that made me jump high enough to turn the game off instantly and find something else to do. To prepare for Halloween, we'll take a trip down some of the rather old scary games that I used to play. Up first this week is Forbidden Forest for the Commodore 64.

Much like video games, music can have anticipated wait times. Earlier this week, Blink 182 broke their 8 year long hiatus and released their newest album, titled “Neighborhoods.” In it, Tom Delonge, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker take everything that they collected over the years and put it into one pop punk CD. Blink has come a long way from singing about teenage break ups, broken homes, and grandpa crapping his pants on labor day. The trio also shows their change in sounds, bringing along keyboards, synthesizers, and catchy guitar riffs while maintaining a steady balance of their old stuff.
