    Recent Albums You Love

I know I've started a similar post (a long, long time ago) but I'd like to jump back into the musical side of CA. Altaco and I talk music quite a lot, and I'd like to see what albums CA members can't seem to put down. I'll just post a few of my recent album loves.

    Volcano Choir: Unmap

Simplicity, elegant, and slightly tribal. Just got this a few days ago and have listened to it before I go to bed 2 or 3 times in a row. Really loving it.

    cLOUDDEAD: cLOUDDEAD

Trip hop. I can't really explain it, but it's really weird and I keep going back to it trying to understand it. I never can, but I always love it. Plus, there's a Jetson's audio clip in there too, pretty cool. Two of the songs are based around getting a guy named Jimmy Breeze into the band, but they're pretty much trolling him straight up. They tell him they wear leather pants and even play him one of their "songs" called Superconductor...which sounds like something a 4 year old would make. Jimmy Breeze liked it a lot.
    It's just weird.

    The Notwist: Neon Golden

Simple rock. It's just really good stuff.

So what about you guys? Anything you can't seem to put down as of recent?

    Neon Trees: Habitats

New band, they're actually touring with 30 Seconds to Mars in a few days, and they have the potential to be amazing.

Thirty Seconds to Mars: This is War

This album actually came out in December 2009, and you've probably heard this "This is War" track from Dragon Age: Origins, and the song was released some time before the album. I haven't been able to put this CD down for months, short and simple.

Dj Tiesto: In Search Of Sunrise 7 - Asia (CD2)

All of the "In Search of Sunrise" CD's never disappointed (me, at least), and this one by far is my favorite. but hey! If you need something different to check out, this one is well made.

I haven't heard the In Search of Sunrise: Asia mix, but I love the Ibiza mix and I game to it all the time. All time favorite mix :D So I'll vouch for nectar's post above.

    Re: Recent Albums You Love

I don't really listen to albums I listen to bands, but I'll try to pick a good representative album for each one . I'll list the band name, album name, what kind of music they are, and some suggested tracks.

Ive been getting into a lot of, umm, experimental metal? anyway stuff that is metal but completely not like iron maiden, I'm particularly liking stuff with orchestras or unconventional sounds, and women singers. Wikipedia tells me that this is symphonic metal.

the birthday massacre, walking with strangers. Canadian synth metal. suggested listening: walking with strangers, red stars, and falling down.

Nightwish, once. Finnish opera metal. suggested listening: nemo, these aren't in this album=> amaranth, and cadence of her last breath.

Within temptation, the silent force. a lot like Nightwish but dutch. suggested listening: it's the fear, somewhere, and julian.

celesty, vendetta. finish power metal, in this album they have an orchestra too. this is a case where I just like an album, the rest of their stuff is really really really nerdy(the Tolkien kind). suggested listening: new sin, euphoric dream, and like warriors.

what started this all was Lacuna coil so here they are.
lacuna coil, karmacode. italian goth rock. suggested listening: closer, to the edge, and enjoy the silence(depeche mode cover).

I'm not sure why I listed where these bands are from but worry not they are all in english!
wait a few days, and I'll post the punk I have been listening to.
"Life,is like a grapefruit... it's sort of orangey-yellow and dimpled on the outside, wet and squidgy in the middle. It's got pips inside, too. Oh, and some people have half a one for breakfast."

    Re: Recent Albums You Love

I'm horrible and haven't bought an album in months, but the last one I got I think was Electroshock Blues by the Eels?

In general it's about loss and death and coping. It's angry and sad and amusing at times. There are probably a couple of songs on Youtube somewhere; I'd recommend listening to "Last Stop: This Town", "Climbing To The Moon", and "Hospital Food" to get a handle of the album and decide if you'd want to grab it.

Not sure why I've become so enamored by it but it's probably become one of my top ten albums.

edit: oh, I guess it's sorta "alternative" rock, as much as that means anyway? If I had to make a crude comparison, I'd say it sounds like a mix of Radiohead and Rilo Kiley?

Recently been enjoying some Ok Go.

And also listening to Contra a lot.

And this isn't recent in the slightest but I can't stop listening recently, Agaetis Byrjun by Sigur Ros:

Edit: almost forgot, I've been listening to Volcano Choir after Passive turned me on to them.

Very Good! It's short, but damn i like it. I don't think its as good as Hospice, but I still really like it. It's the exact time length of my drive to school too. Also they are gonna play at Lolla if you ever were thinkin about doing that little thing, I know I'm actually considering it this year
