I can see how it would be offensive if the gate is locked after a 20+ min ride but it is that way because i don't really like the idea of people messing with my stuff when i am not around... if there was any way i could make it so people couldn't edit my wall/gate i totally would... and its not like there is a warp right there or anything...

I'd prefer folks just keep an open mind about this stuff rather than worry all the time. For my part, I put a nice welcome sign and a rules board right as you enter from the rails. I invite folks to use the facilities and whatnot. Since the whitelist, everyone's been real respectful, and we've all put a lot of time into the map. It is your place though, so you get to make your own rules. I'd suggest putting up a few signs asking visitors not to snoop around. It is a bit misleading to build a road directing traffic to something cool, and then tell people they can't look at it.

Here's a castle I built on a survival server (with flying :P).
It was my first big build so I didn't do much with the asthetics of it, and I'm lazy.
