    Archetype Specialties

So I just mentioned in a post about not having a main anymore and it made me realize that while I don't have a single champion that I focus on, I still like to at least focus on a couple champions per archetype. I'd like to see what you guys have been up to with champs, so I'll get us rolling.
    • Tank: Been loving Maokai for a while now, especially since Shen got hit by the nerf bus. Makes for a great sustainable solo top with almost guaranteed gank kills due to his targeted root. I've taken a liking to Amumu though, and he has a more consistent jungle that doesn't basically require I be invasive with it if I have to jungle tank.
    • Jungler: Almost always Trundle. He is a troll in every sense of the word and I love everything about him. I'll sub in Lee Sin sometimes because I do like a jungle that requires I pay a little bit of attention, but his role in a team fight isn't quite as defined as Trundle, which is to say ult tank, bite carry.
    • Fighter/Bruiser: Tough one (dohoho), since so many fill the roll. Nasus has been my favorite for ages and he's still fantastic in my eyes, but I have been a big fan of Yorick, and not being fairly dependent on farming up the Siphoning Strike is a point in his favor.
    • Support: This one's actually even harder, simply because in normal games it's rarely a good idea for me to roll one even if our team has no support. I guess I'd say Karma, but honestly I build her pure AP and just crush people with shield-splosions. Sona is also pretty fun for me, but the lack of Locket still hurts my soul. Oh, I guess I could say Galio since he is technically labelled as support and is loads of fun on numerous buns, with a decent, generally secondary, initiation.
    • Mage: It's odd, I used to play mages almost exclusively, as I was such a big fan of the burst, but they've fallen to the wayside as of late due to my increased interest in jungling. Kassadin is an oldie but goodie for me, mostly because I just love Riftwalking around like a giant asshole all over everyone's faces and getting out of ganks scot-free, but I do enjoy Orianna's early-game, unavoidable harassment. I would play Annie, but she's so fucking easy it's not even entertaining for me anymore.
    • AD Carry: Miss Fortune, no contest. It was extremely rare that I would play a carry prior to her release, but I immediately took a liking to her style and concocted an odd build of my own that suited me (lot of on-hit with magic pen, but still plenty of physical damage). If I had to make a second choice I'd say Caitlyn, since her early burst is pretty troll-worthy and her late game did get buffed to an acceptable level some time back.
Feel free to update with new posts if you sub in new champs, and if you want to mention more archetypes (sub-types even), go ahead and throw 'em in there.

Possible, but I wouldn't say viable. Needs a solo.

    • Tank: Cho'gath. I like to semi-carry as a tank. I'll warrant he makes a better off-tank than main tank though. You'll need another form of initiation.
    • Jungler: Lee Sin. I love this guy. Probably my best character and in my opinion one of the best junglers.
    • Fighter/Bruiser: Blitz or GGaren if I'm feeling like I want to spin.
    • Support: Taric. Bot lane sustain is OP.
    • Mage: Orianna or Mord
    • AD Carry: Vayne is my favorite at the moment. Wouldn't really play ranked with her until she receives some love.

    Re: Archetype Specialties

You can jungle with almost any champ, technically, just not the best idea with most. Honestly, Akali is pretty okay at it last I checked, although with a fairly weak pre-6 gank and she certainly isn't as fast or safe as the more specialized champs.

Anyways, this thread isn't for criticizing peoples favorites, it's to post your own and discuss archetypes in general. Do it, Hevy. I dare you, motherfucker.

Lee Sin is definitely a super strong jungler. Very safe. Love just starting with a Doran's Blade and just tearing up the jungle to come out screaming at some poor sap with way more health and damage than they could likely dream of. He was completely bananers on release, before they nerfed his lifesteal/spellvamp on Iron Will. Cho is also a favorite of mine and happens to be a badass jungler while he's at it. You can start with a Sapphire Crystal and just give no fucks.

Yeah, I jungle with him whenever there's someone else who may want my top solo.

Yi and Nunu are both 450 IP and Nunu is a GREAT jungler. Extremely versatile and almost unrivaled at how fast he can whip out a gank. Hell, for easy mode jungles Warwick is a mere 1350. For the same price there's Cho, Fiddle, Amumu and Malphite. Just pick one up if you seriously don't own one of those already. Any one of them. Doesn't matter. They're all good and I think they're all fun (Yi being the least fun for me with his almost complete lack of active play).

    Re: Archetype Specialties

I was curious, and it provoked discussion. I'd say my two word post was a smashing success.

My champions are fleeting, and I can't figure out why. Every time I play a champ enough to get good at them, I lose interest almost immediately. I believe it's a direct result of the stealth nerf some 2 years ago. Remember when we were all playing in beta? I had what I thought was a lot of games at around 200 games, with 100 of them as Twitch. Then, they do the wipe, introduce the stealth nerf, and make Twitch/Eve useless. I've been nomadic ever since. But, because I own almost all the champions, I have taken the time to learn.

Tank/Jungle: Straight up, Amumu. Favorite champion in general, have almost all the skins for him, and run the novelty twitter account. Amumu isn't the best jungler in the world, but he's able to pull it off, has great ganks at level 5, and with early boots can counter jungle. I'm pretty good at Olaf too. I forgot to mention that. Some of the CA people can attest to it, I'm fairly dominant in the jungle and definitely able to provide ganks to lanes while jungling.

AP Carry: Annie - It's strange that I prefer her over Brand, but I think Annie is more of an AP/Support champion. She can certainly smash entire teams, but the stun utility of a Tibbers Drop is unrivaled. It's harder for a Brand to stun an entire team than it is Annie, which gives her added utility.

Ranged AD Carry: I needed to split this up. Caitlyn, Ashe, and Vayne. I think I'm best with Vayne because she's not as reliant on positioning outside of a fight than she is at being a secondary Poppy. I wish I knew where to stand during team fights as Caitlyn or Ashe, but I can't figure it out. As soon as I get powerful enough to do anything, someone on the opposing team focuses me, and I have no method of escape.

Melee AD Carry: Xin, with lots of Attack Speed. People don't realize this, but with the right amount of attack speed, you can get your Q off 3 times in a single W. That's 3 pop-ups. Zerker greaves > African American Cleaver > Phantom Dancer > Infinity Edge. You can go whatever you want after that. Get him the AS necessary, and he'll just run into battles and destroy.

I don't really play any support. I really like playing both Soraka and Taric, I'm just not very good at them. Maybe someday I'll invest in a rune page for one of them, but until then, I'll stick with what I've got.
